Kick Pedals, Commas & Spec Fluids

Dear Typewriter Man,
I was just thinking kick pedals. I was thinking a drum throne instead of a bench or a chair. Man, I bet you could fly. I feel like flyin’ now. Kick pedals. Why didn’t I think of this before? This Selectric would make more sense. No spacebar necessary. I just learned how over- to hyper-engineered and super-stabilized a good spacebar has to be. Good R&D (and a sensitive ear). Give me two kick pedals. No, give me three. We could go for the sound barrier. They don’t have to be quiet, Ava’s a rattly beast. Lumpy & nasty when you turn her on, like a big block rollin’ on low idle, but The Green Meanie sings when you get her up on plane. I adore Ava, especially now she’s on wheels, but ever since learning of fine spacebars and bearings I’m over Ava’s clunky spacebar and my semi-opposable thumbs’ve had it with making spaces. They could be doing other things. I was thinking kick pedals, or piano pedals. My feet are doing nothing at the moment but keeping a beat. Servos may work for Ava, with all that extra electricity flowing around, but for a manual like Candices… perhaps pneumatic actuation where there’s atmo, or hydraulic…Yeah, hydraulic. Just think how smoooth it could be. But would it be quick enough to flow? I don’t know but I wouldn’t mind doing the test piloting. I’ve got a shiny new helmet and an Öhlins 20mm kit left over from somewhere and a quart or so of ultravirgin olive oil. I suppose it would take specialty fluids though. Small tubes, high pressures. That’s for the engineers to computate. I just wanna drive it. Three pedals on the floor would probably be enough to kick out the spaces, Shift, and do all, or most, of the baseline punctuation. I’d probably dedicate one pedal to Shift. Yeah, yeah, the Clutch pedal. Wouldn’t it be nice to be free of the Shift key? My pinkies could stay home more. On a good day when I’m well hydrated and all the knuckles are working and I’m not bowling in a league my fingers approach nearly netherworldly nimbleness on a speedy keyboard. Elfin even.
Sorry, I was getting carried away there…Where was I? Oh yeah, kick pedals & sonic flow mode. I’ve got to get back to work. Okay then, Cheerio, my turn to drive.

We’ll catch up soon!

P.S.— Do you know how a “Page Gage” works on the S.C. Galaxie? I can’t figure it out. I thought I had it, but nope. I get inconsistent bottoms. Now Mom’s asking the same questions because I lent it to her for a while. I think she’s hooked. She sent two letters this week.

P.P.S.— Candy said, Remind the Kids, Safety Third! & wear your helmet.
